SINCE 1904
Educating and Developing Young Minds
Laurinburg Institute has stood as a beacon of excellence, character, and resilience since its founding in 1904 by Emmanuel and Tinny McDuffie—who answered a call from Booker T. Washington and William J. Edwards, the founder of Snow Hill Institute. They walked to North Carolina from Alabama to build the school. Spanning 55 acres, this historic, faith-based institution blends rigorous academics with vocational training, leadership development, and spiritual growth. Under the dedicated leadership of the McDuffie family for generations, Laurinburg Institute continues to prepare students for college and life through small classes, hands-on learning, and an unwavering commitment to integrity and purpose.
Student-Centered Teaching
At Laurinburg Institute, student-centered teaching brings joy and success by fostering personalized learning, close teacher-student relationships, and a nurturing environment where each student is empowered to grow, achieve, and reach their full potential.
